Formotion Films Show This Friday

Sponsored by The Visual Art Exchange -

From information collection and distribution, to pop culture, contemporary design, technology and urban living, Formotion Films aims to reference layers of society without explicitly naming them. Recycled visuals paralleled with audio backdrops create a filmscape that represents the over indulgent culture we live in today. The films of Lather, Rinse, Repeat attempt to expose this indulgence and are all made of previously used material and are 100% recyclable. Can recycling culture create change?

Warning – No Celluloid was harmed in the making of these films.

show.me.your.pace

This is one of the first films I made. Technically, it is the second film as the first film was called "Hands On" and was simply an exercise in my first film class. Therefore, this was the first film I made on my own accord. show.me.your.pace was made in Las Vegas, with all the footage being filmed in and around the city of neon lights and slot machines. It was part of the.mobile.studio. We traveled across the country and I decided to buy a video camera and film the entire trip. I ended up using film as a main part of my studio projects and show.me.your.pace was the first one of a couple of films that were used as research and site study. This particular project was a Neon Museum on the Las Vegas strip and I used the pace of variable transportation systems as the main theme of the project. This film shows the site of the neon museum and attempts to overlay variable speeds and neon signs to illustrate the atmosphere of the future museum design. The music is Clint Mansel from the film Pi and the speaking is a friend that I recorded and Max from Pi.
